Letters of Recommendation:
One recommendation letter from a professor at a college is required.
Essay:
A personal declaration is required.

There is a non-refundable $45 application fee.
Interview:
Admissions are not required to be considered.
Other Requirements:
The applicant must have an A grade or higher in both the college-level English and a college-level math course. Other requirements differ by the college and school.

Before you contact for an appointment with the College of Medicine, please go through the information on the university website about their admissions requirements to ensure that you can plan your questions ahead of time.
Also, make sure you keep your AMCAS number at hand. Contact us via (202-806-6279) Monday to Friday between 9:00 am and 4:30 pm. During our interview time (August-April) the most suitable times to contact us are listed below:
- Mondays: 9:00 am – 4:30 pm ESTT
- Thursdays: from 2:00 PM to 4:30 pm
- Fridays: 9:00 am – 4:30 pm EST
Admissions Office Admissions Office hosts a FIRST Friday Open House each Friday of every month that runs from August through April (except holidays).
Note: the First Friday Open Houses are not scheduled for during the months of May, June and July. A presentation, as well as a question and answer session begins promptly at 12:15 pm. An excursion through the school will start at 12:45 pm.

When will I be interviewed?
Interviews are required before you are accepted into The College of Medicine. However, we are not able to interview all applicants. Candidates who are selected to be interviewed will receive an invitation to be interviewed via emails.
Interviews will be held between the end of September and the middle of April. Do not contact us to inquire about an interview.
Do you consider AMCAS cost waivers?
We’re sorry, Howard University does not allow fee waivers. We do however, work to keep our applications for secondary admissions cost-effective ($75.00).
How long until I know whether I’ll be invited to an interview?
We will be looking at applications from mid-April to August. If you are selected to be interviewed you will be notified via email in the space of three weeks from proposed dates for interviews. You can choose the time that is most suitable for you.
Do I need to transmit transcripts?
No. Don’t provide transcripts unless asked for. They are not reviewed and are not acknowledged.
What do you think of letters of recommendation?
All recommendations must be sent to AMCAS. We’ll need either:
- A letter from the health professions committee for evaluation (composite letter)
- A letter-package from your school or university that includes at minimum two letters from scientists faculty (Biology Chemistry, Physics and Math) who instructed you and awarded you an award or
The number of recommendations is unlimited to the amount of recommendations you can make.
But, at least two (2) must be written by scientists faculty (Biology Chemistry, Physics, Chemistry Mathematics, Chemistry) who instructed you and assigned you an award.
When will HUSL start accepting applications?

When do you expect HUSL start looking at applications?
November. Students who are interested in applying are advised to submit and finish their applications as soon as they can but not before February 28. Applications received after this deadline might not be evaluated.
What time is the decision to be taken?
Decisions will be made in the months of December and March. The final waitlist decision could occur throughout the summer. Howard does not operate on the “Rolling Admissions” program.
