To be honest there’s no “Best Job” in the tech industry. Everyone is dependent on another. People work collectively and fix bugs. And that’s what makes a business successful. It’s completely based on your expectations, experience and opinion.

If you are a hardcore programmer and love logic, you can go for Software Engineering and programming jobs.

Data Scientists are tough guys who are one of key aspects of a successful business. They have minds of a machine and calculate a lot out of statistics.

Database Administration is a nice paying job if you have dealt with large amount of data and still can do so.

Graphic artists design every key element you see on banners or the apps of the biggies. You need race your creativity for that.

Cryptographers and security analysts high paying, lots of brain work.

It’s a relative term, you can’t put one on another. They are all high paying jobs and there are a lot more. I am sure someone else can give you a list of all of them. It depends on your passion. If you are an idle person, you are probably not going to get any of those jobs.

Can I start my career in information technology field at the age of 26?

Yes! You can start your career in IT any time you want. Jorge Ospina spent his teenage years getting Cisco certifications and was the youngest CCIE in history, getting it at age 19. I didn’t start my IT training until I was 28 and did not officially enter the field until my mid-30s. A friend of mine’s father is in his 60s with a PHD in Computer Science and starting his own consulting firm.

The thing is, it is not your age that really gets you in the field. I work with people older and younger all in aspects of technology. We started at different times in life but we all ended up where we are today because of our drive to learn and excel and found a company that valued that trait in each of us.

If you are ready to tackle IT, go for it. If you are not, wait and do it later. The one thing I can assure you is it will be here waiting for you when you are ready.
