The national open university of Nigeria (NOUN) is a university that uses social distance model of learning i.e. Students can sit at the comforts of their home and receive lectures through media apps in form of video and other portable document files.

it was at first established on 22 July 1983 as springboard for open and distance learning in Nigeria. It was suspended by the government on 25 April 1984. However, its resuscitation was begun on 12 April 2001 by the former President of Nigeria, Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo.

NATIONAL OPEN UNIVERSITY : HOW TO APPLY

The guides below show you how Application To National open University of Nigeria works.

  1. First visit NOU Official Website to get started
  2. Once the page loads, click on Apply for Admission( for easy finds check the quick links tab)
  3. There are two programmes available at the moment Undergraduate and Postgraduate select either one of the two
  4. On the left hand of the screen go to choose faculty and select faculty
  5. After selecting your faculty, you have to fill the form being displayed to you
  6. Next, click on view requirements to review your admission criteria
  7. click on Apply to proceed, this will take you to the pre-payment form page fill it and submit.
  8. After this  you will get your RRR (Remita Retrieval Reference) which is to be used for payment
  9. Copy the UNIQUE ID that is displayed on your screen then click continue
  10. In the drop, Select Bank branch as payment type then proceed to click Pay
  11. Take with you your RRR number to any bank of your choice to make payment
  12. After payment, go back to the Official Website and perform steps 2-3 again
  13. you’ll see Continue After Payment here, fill in the Unique ID, RRR number and programme of choice.
  14. click proceed
  15. fill the provided form on the screen then submit.
  16. Print your admission letter and take the letter to any study centre for screening by an official.

  • Matric fees = N1,500
  • Orientation fees = N1,500
  • ICT charges = N5,000
  • Library fees = N3,000
  • Electronic Facilitation = N4,000
  • Jamb Reg = N6,000
  • Caution deposit = N4,000
  • project fees = N15,000
  • Exam fees = N1,000 each course
  • Result = N5,000

The above fees are for new undergraduate students. For old students you only have to pay Registration fees, ICT fees, E-facilitation and lib fees.

Postgraduates

  • Registration fees = N6,000
  • Matric fees = N1,500
  • Orientation fees = N1,500
  • ICT charges = N5,000
  • Library fees = N3,000

  • project fees = N15,000
