Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is a public university in Edwardsville, Illinois, the United States, about 20 miles northeast of St. Louis, Missouri. SIUE was established in 1957 as an extension of Southern Illinois University Carbondale and is the younger of the two major institutions of the Southern Illinois University system.

How will my transfer credit be applied to the requirements of my SIUE degree?
With the exception of one Interdisciplinary Studies course and, if appropriate, a foreign language, you will have satisfied all general education requirements if you completed the Illinois General Education Core Curriculum at an IAI member institution.
Credit will be examined for comparability to SIUE curriculum and, if found to be equal, will be applied as if completed at SIUE.
If the material satisfies the general education curriculum’s objectives, courses for which equivalence could not be determined will be allocated toward general education requirements. Coursework that has been found eligible for University admission but does not have a SIUE equivalent or meets general education criteria may be used at the discretion of a student’s major department.
It will not be recognized toward SIUE general education or degree requirements if the credit is vocational or developmental/preparatory.
Do you accept associate’s degrees from community colleges in Illinois or Missouri?
A student transferring to SIUE with an Associate in Arts (AA), Associate in Science (AS), Associate in Science and Arts (ASA), or Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT in early childhood, special education, or math) degree from an Illinois public community college or an Associate in Arts (AA) degree from a Missouri public community college is considered to have completed all lower-level general education requirements, including all Experiences (Gen Ed Waiver). Graduation requires passing ENG 101 and 102 with a grade of C or above, as well as one three-semester-hour junior-level or above Interdisciplinary Studies course from a senior institution.
Students who complete the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) general education core curriculum will be granted the Gen Ed Waiver; however, they must also complete the English and Interdisciplinary Studies requirements in order to graduate.
Some courses can be used to complete requirements for both general education and major/minor requirements. All coursework needed for the major/minor must be completed by students who get a Gen Ed Waiver.
