The University of California, Los Angeles had a record-breaking year in terms of admissions. Around 149,700 students applied as first-year students to the prominent public university in Los Angeles, which, like all other UC campuses, is now test-blind due to a court ruling. This year’s application total, which is close to 150,000, is a 10% increase over previous year’s application total, which was a then-record number of students applying to UCLA. Approximately 91,500 of the candidates are from California (up about 7,400 from last year), while about 58,200 are from other states (up by about 2,900 from last year).

A good illustration of UCLA incoming class acceptance rate is as follows:

Let’s assume UCLA has about 200,000 applicants in 2022 but Accepts about 20,000 applicants only. In this case, the acceptance rate will be 10%.

On the other way round, if UCLA has about 10,000 applicants but admits only 5,000 applicants, then their acceptance rate will be 50%.

The earlier had more applicants and more admitted students but had a low percentage (10%) while the latter had low applicants, low accepted students but a high percentage (50%)
