The University of Fraser Valley (UFV), formerly known as University College of the Fraser Valley and Fraser Valley College, is a Canadian public university with campuses in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Mission and Hope, British Columbia.
Founded in 1974 as Fraser Valley College, it was a response to the need to expand vocational training in the Fraser Valley communities. In 1988, it was converted to a university college, with degree-granting status. As the University College of the Fraser Valley, it grew rapidly, becoming one of the largest universities in Canada.
In recognition of the growing needs for higher education in the region and in the province, the provincial government granted full university status on April 21, 2008.
Student enrollment now exceeds 15,000 students per year.

Established in 1974 as Fraser Valley College, it was a response to the desire to broaden vocational discipline in the Fraser Valley neighborhoods. Hence, in 1988, the school became a university college, with degree-granting dignity.
As this Canadian educational institution gained degree significance, it grew promptly, coming to be one of the biggest academies in the country. In commendation of the thriving craves for excellent schooling in the region and province, the provincial government granted full university status on April 21, 2008.
Nevertheless, the Canadian University Report The Globe and Mail As of 2010, UFV earned the most “A” grades of any postsecondary institution in British Columbia, receiving A grades for quality of education, student-teacher interaction, and ease of registration.
Valley demanded a post-secondary educational facility within Fraser Valley. In 1966, the provincial government rejected a proposal to found a secondary school. Not to be swayed by this early defeat, supporters wanting post-secondary representation pushed for a vocational school to be built.
The proposed site for this vocational school was to be near the geographic center of the Fraser Valley, on Lickman Road in Chilliwack. This proposal was approved and plans for the school were put into motion.
However, with the election of a new provincial government in 1972, the development of the school came to a halt. Communities lobbied again for the continuation of this project, so the government appointed a special task force to study the feasibility of a university in the Fraser Valley. The task force recommended a comprehensive regional college offering university transfer programs, careers and vocations.
A plebiscite was proposed to request the support of taxpayers in this effort, and it was approved with 89% in favor. In reaction to this strong show of support, the provincial government announced the establishment of Fraser Valley College on April 4, 1974.
Only a few months of planning went into the new university before it opened its doors in September 1974. Since still no new facilities had been built, classes were held in the basements of churches, and public schools.
However, the school is currently one of the most decorated in the country. This is as a result of the management to fulfil the long-concieved mandate of the establishment.

University College of the Fraser Valley Tuition and Fees
University college of Fraser Valley has a relatively affordable tuition for both international and domestic students. For
undergraduate studies, a tuition of $15,120 is charged for 12 credits for each of the academic semester.
Students are also required to pay ancillary fees. This is more like a social service dues which includes unlimited local bus pass and the charge is $860.
More so International scholars are to pay for administration and this cost $1,450 per academic semester.
Medical fees are compulsory for both resident and non-resident scholars and charged $800.
