WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I AM UNABLE TO COMPLETE 30 TRANSFERABLE SEMESTER HOURS UNTIL AFTER THE DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION?
Students who have not completed 30 or more transferable hours after graduating from high school are ineligible for admission to a four-year institution after graduation. Before the transfer application deadline, students must have completed one full year of full-time college attendance resulting in 30 or more transferable hours recorded on their official college transcripts. Students who do not meet this requirement will not be considered for admission to UGA.
What counts as completed semester hours for advanced placement or International Baccalaureate course credit?
Credit for Advanced Placement courses will only be considered for meeting admissions criteria if they are adequately documented on the transcript of another college. There must be clear identification of the credit as Advanced Placement (AP), a course designation at the college (for example, ENGL1101), and credit hours (ex. 3). If UGA Admissions is unable to determine the course or hours from the transcript, or if the credit is Advanced Placement (AP), the credit will not be included in transferable hours.

The First-Year and Transfer application review processes are distinct from one another. A decision made in the case of a First-Year applicant does not influence choices made for subsequent applications.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN IF I GO TO SCHOOL FIRST BEFORE TRANSFERRING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF GUARANTEED?
No, it does not work like that. However, coursework from institutions in the United States that have been certified by one of the regional bodies of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation is not accepted at UGA. For institutions located outside of the United States, an Outsourced Credit Evaluation is necessary. Most community and technical colleges have transferable credit mentioned in their transfer/general education core curriculum.
Advanced placement credit labeled as specific courses on a college transcript maycollege transcript will transfer to another institution. Non-academic, sub-college level, non-credit, experiential learning, professional certification, and fields of study that are not also taught at UGA will not be transferred to the University of Georgia system.
IS IT NECESSARY FOR ME TO SEND TRANSCRIPTS FROM EVERY SCHOOL AT WHICH I HAVE COMPLETED COLLEGE-LEVEL WORK?
To submit a complete application, official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended, including work completed through joint or dual enrollment programs, study abroad work, or work completed as a summer transient or through any other program, are required for each college or university attended.
HOW WILL I KNOW WHICH CLASSES WILL TRANSFER TO THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA?
We are unable to notify students whether courses will or will not transfer until an application and transcripts have been received and reviewed. We will offer a list of all UGA courses for which a student has gained credit to those who have been accepted into the program.
In most cases, courses designed to be applied toward a Bachelor’s Degree will transfer. A few examples of courses that may not transfer include: experience or institutional placement, non-academic courses (such as internships and workshops) that exceed 4 hours, physical education courses that exceed 1 hour (with no grade used), and Bachelor Degree level areas of study that are not taught by the University of Georgia (Nursing, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy, etc.).
