Wentworth Institute of Technology is a private, co-educational, technical design and engineering college in Boston, Massachusetts. The college was founded in 1904 as the Wentworth Institute to serve the needs of Boston’s growing industrial population. In 1906, the managers purchased land for a campus on Huntington Avenue in Boston’s Longwood Medical Area. Beginning in 1911, the first class of students attended classes in the four-year program leading to a Bachelor of Science degree from Wentworth Institute.
